Words from Wes

This is a guest post from a friend of Wes. My name is Dave Lehman, and my wife and I became good friends with Wes & Karen during their stint up in Canada as a Youth Pastor. We shared lots of time together as young married couples, and Wes and I had many adventures playing computer games, working on some crazy projects, including starting a (short-lived) company called Bionic Duck Web Design. Wes never had a shortage of new ideas to try, and had boundless enthusiasm for each and every one of them. His enthusiasm and determination in every area of his life was a huge inspiration. Our friendship stayed active over many years and miles, and i’ll miss him a lot.

Several months ago, Wes started creating a series of short videos that he asked me to post for him at this time. There are fifteen in all, and i’ll post them each individually.

  1. Thank you! Great to see Wes with his family.

  2. Dave, Thank you for posting these – what a blessing it is to be able to hear Wes’ heart for his family and for Christ. It was evident in his life, and it is evident in the Coddington Tribe! You all can not know how blessed you are to have the heritage of a godly husband and father because you have not known anything else, but I do know you are aware that God has graced you with a wonderful man to lead your home.
Dakota, Kadin and Kasey, many have NO idea what it is like to grow up in a home like yours – but I suspect your wives/husband and children will because you have seen Christ modeled by your mother and father. And I am confident that the same faith that they have taught you and modeled for you will be lived out as you follow what you have heard and seen.
Karen, thank you for the blessing you have been to watch as a godly mother and wife. Even as you walked this difficult path, Christ was heard in your words, seen in your actions, and lived out in your life! May God continue to bless you. We love you all.

  3. Dave thanks for sharing the 15 videos. What a great gift to the family to watch over the next weeks and months. May God be glorified!!!

  4. Dave, I was just talking with my son yesterday about the various crazy things Wes did with the youth back in the day, including the various networking games that had several people really involved. The network that was “put together” from various components, including (I think) some parts that came from a “common source”. These videos are very touching and personal. Thank you for sharing, and being a close friend of Wes who trusted you to do it.

  5. Just when I was about to get emotional, he went there…”Hot Pants” LMBO. That Wes…SMH. Thank you for this. I think Karen’s surprised facial expression Distracted me with laughter. I needed this. Thank you so much. My heart has been heavy since I heard the new. I think these videos are such a blessing.

  6. Thanks for posting these Dave! It was great to be able to hear Wes’s voice, and his heart. He was faithful, joyful and humble. What a privilege to have known him.
Karen, Dakota, Kadin, and Kasey, we are continuing to pray for you, and to thank God for each of you. You are each uniquely gifted, and each such clear reflections of who Jesus is.
