Very Weak and Unsure

This week has been another tough one so far. I don’t seem to have the energy to do much of anything. I can barely lift my feet sometimes to walk across the room. There are a couple projects for work I’d really like to work on but just have zero ability to sit up and concentrate on them. I have a couple personal projects that are the same. I struggle feeling like the days are wasted but I am learning to be okay with that (I think). Every time I get feeling this way I get affirmation from so many places that “to exist and rest” is enough. I’m trying really hard to do that but am usually unsure that I’m doing it “right.”

Karen took me to the Greenbelt here in Boise this am and pushed me in my wheelchair. It was hot today (94 degrees!) but she pushed me along. She is so good to me. And the Lord has given her such an athletic body that even in her late 40’s she is incredibly strong and agile. Anyway, we walked along the river which was gorgeous, watched some kayakers in the waves and ate a Bomb Pop she bought for me. While I couldn’t be “productive”, Karen and I were able to steal some time together which is so precious to us.

If you really want to know where my thoughts went today while we strolled along the river, here it is: We feel so blessed to be living in such a wonderful place, with wonderful people, and wonderful opportunities. We have always been outdoor people and there’s so much to do here with each other and with family and friends…but just as we were lead here and settled, we received my prognosis. Sometimes it feels like a dirty deal but I just have to go back to: God is good and God knows best. That’s the only way I can keep going. If I center my thoughts there, everything else seems to fall in place.

On a totally different note, please be in prayer for our oldest son Dakota. He has some difficult decisions to make regarding his future and he has to make them sooner than he’d like.

Kasey has her school play this weekend, Fri, Sat and Mon.

Kadin began working at Lowe’s for the summer in the building department and is really enjoying it.

So often the path that will bring God more glory is not the easy one! I look at you and Karen and consistently see you guys making the tough decision that will ultimately bring God more glory, humbly and faithfully! You are an encouragement to me and so many others in my walk with God! 16. Dear Wes,
Your transparency inspires others as you, Karen and your family travel this journey. The depth of your faith in God and love for one another and your family is an example for all. In that alone you are actively serving the Lord. Perhaps the most valuable “projects” you have right now is spending time with your loved ones. We are praying for each one of you and for the decision Dakota needs to make. May God encircle you in His loving arms.
Most sincerely in Christ, Eleanor Dunlap

  27. Wes, I don’t know how you think you are doing, but from our perspective, you are strength and poise. You are focused on what is important to you, faith and family. Yet your generosity in openness, sharing with us all even in this time of crisis is still there. Strength and poise, that is what your actions and words are from our perspective. Lately I have had my own health issues and health scares. Like always, you are a roadmap, an example of how to do things right. I find myself like always, drawing from your example, your beacon in the darkness to guide me in the right direction. We will meet again Wes, maybe later, maybe sooner. I look forward to meeting again and chatting with my friend. For those of us left behind, please guide us like you always have, if from a bit further away than usual. Please let me know what I can do to help in whatever way is needed. Even if you can’t call, I extend the offer to call me anytime for any reason. Take care Wes. Angel R.

  31. Praying daily that His presence will be your strength. Your lives have been a constant testimony as each day you trust all to the leading of the Shepherd. We pray for you here in Delaware in our various groups and it challenges us to follow closely after HIM IN OUR DAILY LIVES. KEEP ON LOOKING TO HIM for each day. Love Aunt Mildred PSM 143:8 Make me know the way I should go.

  32. Hey Wes, please know that for so many of us, you existing is indeed enough. I think of you daily. Every time I get an email that you’ve posted again, or your wife has posted again, I just get this boost in my spirit. Because you exist. You mean so much to so many people, Wes. It’s easy to be of strong spirit when everything is going your way. What you are doing is being strong in spirit when things aren’t going your way. And it is such a testimony, such an ongoing, living example and reminder of how fortunate we all are, yourself included. You got to take a walk and spend time with your wife today. Is there a price you can put on that? You set such an example for the appreciation we should all feel, each and every day. I’m so grateful for you, my friend.

    Mike

  33. Wes.
There’s no other way to say this: this whole thing sucks! Not what you “signed up for”! But beyond the reality of this situation I know that you know that despite it all God is present, guiding, and not taken by surprise by any of it. We don’t have to like lots of things about life but we do experience that underlying “joy” and assurance that He is good and that it will all make sense. We love you. Jeff and Rory

  34. Wes and Karen,
Thrilled to hear of your intentional time to get away, see things of beauty that inspire and just be together enjoying the gift of each other.
We grieve with what you are managing- but keep praying you sense His grace and live surrounding you.
    Love and prayers,
    Barb

  35. Wow! what strength I see and so much Love, I have no idea what it’s like to see through your eyes but I can identify strength when I see it .all I can see is God ,strength, and Love through you and your family I’m so encouraged to fight the good fight of faith and to look forward to a glorious Crown. I love you and your family for continuing to show the Gospel through all adversity I am with you in prayer and community so thy Kingdom come and thy will be Done on earth as it is in Heaven. And in Heaven all is well 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜.

  36. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

“Allowing” Him to live through you is strength and is WAY more productive than you could ever imagine!

  37. Praying for you daily. I’m overwhelmed by your inner strenght.
