Is It Time?

The question that is plaguing Wes’ mind is, Is It Time? The last few days Wes has not been able to do anything on his own. His muscles in his legs and arms are extremely weak. Yesterday we managed to get him in a chair for a couple of hours and then back to bed. He deals with a lot of discomfort in his mid section, as that is mostly where the cancer is and the feeding tube has been causing pain as well. We need wisdom on how to best manage his discomfort, as even the simplest thing of going to the bathroom is a cumbersome chore. We will be working with Hospice in helping us manage this current stage.

Our kids are all scheduled to leave today for different service projects and a road trip for a week. We are praying for the Lord’s wisdom through all of this, as we don’t want to change any of their plans. We do not want them to not go and if they go we don’t want them to be worried about what’s going on here. We want them to enjoy their time and Lord willing we will all be together again soon.

  1. Don’t know what to say. The Time gets nearer every day. It does for each of us. But for Wes, it is very evident. He’ll miss your faces so much, but to see Jesus…. what Joy!! What a wonderful Guadian Angel you will all have!!

  2. Praying that the God of all comfort will bless you not only with physical comfort but with spiritual comfort and wisdom. Love you guys and continue to carry your needs to THE Throne.

  3. Praying for wisdom in it all. They need to know there are no wrong answers. We will pray that God gives you and them the grace to make the decision they feel is best, and the comfort to know that God will walk with them through which ever path He takes them on. The fact that they are wrestling with what to do speaks volumes about you as a family and their love for God and their family.

We are praying for you all.

  4. What a great picture of your family! Yes, praying for wisdom and direction with the help of Hospice during this difficult stage Wes is in! Praying he will feel more comfortable and free of this pain. It is good to hear your kids get to go and serve and enjoy a road trip. Asking that the Lord will allow them to enjoy their time and fulfill His purposes, trusting His will and timing for their return. Praying specifically for you, Karen, as we know you carry a ‘weight’ in all of this as a wife and mom! Love you, sister! Laura and John

  5. Karen, your updates remind me so much of the four months of Don’s decline and the memories just flood back. The Lord knows the exact moment when he will take Wes home just as he did for Don I know you can trust him with both Wes’ life and home going but it is hard, so hard. Praying for you and the kids. My two daughters were at State College while Don was ill and saw him every weekend. What a joy! They had been in Seattle and the Philippines right before this time. On the Saturday Don passed, they were visiting and ready to go back. I asked them to stay for a short time and the Lord took Don while they were there – a real blessing to all of us. If God wills, your kids will be back at just the right time and if not, it was his will for them not to be there – they have been with him many days and I know that is special. Just the same, I’ll pray for the kid’s trips and safe return, your care for Wes along with Hospice ,and for Wes’ comfort. Love you all!

  10. Oh Karen, I can only imagine the mixed emotions you are having as a momma and wife right now. Praying surpassing peace for you through these decisions, you have a-lot of unknowns, but God knows, and he will guide each step when we ask. (And even when we don’t) Trust Him, and you can take confidence in knowing nothing happens apart from his will. I am praying for God’s wisdom and comfort for you. Much love and affection.

  16. Wes Karen,

    Jn. 15: 15, 16, 17

Jesus calls us “friend” and to us is given all that Father God gave unto Jesus, our savior and Lord! Jesus chose and appointed us to bear fruit, and that fruit shall remain! Now, whatever we ask the Father for in Jesus will be given!
Now, love one another, just as I have loved you!
Father, we ask for a heavenly transition into your kingdom! We place brother Wes in your loving care. May the hospice servants be lead by your Holy Spirit. May sister Karen, Dakota, Kadin and Kasey receive a double portion of the anointing of Elijah that your will may be done in their lives, for YOUR GLORY! So be it! Humbly, broRaul sisElvia.

  17. I pray everyday for peace and understanding and strength for you, Wes and your family. My heart aches for all of you and I love and miss you very much. Your strength and support are Wes’s gift and please tell him that I pray for him everyday and thank him for me for all he has given me throughout the years I have know him.
    Patty C.

  18. Praying you will all be able to be worry free knowing everything is in God’s hand, So hard to do,
trusting through all this is most difficult I’m sure. Love and Prayers.

  19. Praying for God to help Wes through this hardship. Praying you both will have clarity of what can be done to keep him comfortable. Praying the kids feel peace to go and trust Gods plan. I send my love to you all.

  20. Karen and Wes,

I won’t lie, my heart hurts for you. The Lord is pressing in my life this summer to be in the present moment walking in the fear of the Lord and the comfort of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 9:31)

Jesus knows that when we walk in the fear of the Lord, which is a holy highway to heaven and a very narrow path, we will need the comfort of the Holy Spirit. That’s my prayer for you. May the comfort of the Holy Spirit be present every single moment of this journey on God’s Holy Highway to heaven. May you travel on the path of peace.

  21. Wes,
I’m at the lake remembering all the good times our family shared here as well as the many deep conversations we’ve had. You are truly my brother from another mother. If this is “the time” you will be sorely missed even as a race well run is celebrated. You have faithfully done well and my prayer is that you will have so much more to do. I will be praying for the miraculous healing all of us desire for you. Love you Bro!

  22. We continue to pray for God’s peace and presence with you and your family. Thankful for your continued faithfulness to our God and praying that you would be keenly aware of his care for all of you.

  23. Wes you are going to be exstrmely missed and I will not forget the day you Baptized me and Tom .you are a truly a blessing .we will remember you always and we love you ✝️❤️

  24. I’m praying right now for God’s grace and peace for you all.

  25. Karen,
You are an amazing partner to Wes. We love you both and grieve at the pain Wes must endure. We trust the Resurrected Christ for you both!

  26. Praying for “that peace that passes all understanding, to guard your heart and your mind, in Christ Jesus” (Phil.4:7). 💕

  27. Just reading what Wes and family are experiencing is difficult, very difficult, my heart sinks. Yet I am compelled to read and struggle to understand the meaning of it all. I guess what I’m saying is that Wes and family are not alone, everyone here is rooting for you all, our family certainly is. Maybe in the back of my mind there is a hope that somehow, the suffering shared to the whole community brings some little comfort to the family. This is something that we all have to go through sometime for ourselves or for the people around us. I can’t put into words how appreciative I am with Wes and family sharing these difficult times with us. This is just Wes being Wes, giving a guiding light to point us (me) in the right direction even with the most difficult things, even to/till the very end. I am privileged and humbled to have met you Wes, to be able to consider you my friend. I will never forget the constant support and guidance you have given me. I will do the same for others as best I can. Your blueprint on how to be, how everyone should be, will go on. Thank you Wes.

  28. We are praying for wisdom comfort and peace for each of you. We love you guys!

  29. We love you guys dearly, praying for the whole tribe as Wes endures the last leg of his hard run race. May the Lord watch over you in this difficult time and may we as your brothers and sisters take courage in what we have witnessed. A family dedicated to our Lord Jesus, set on seeing the gospel lived out and willing to spend it all for the sake of Christ.

  30. Our hearts are going out to you feeling your pain and keeping you in CNN prayer.

    1. Error correct
Our hearts are going out to you feeling your pain and keeping you in prayer.

  31. There are no words, really, that can ease this transition. So many wonderful messages and prayers above and I echo them. Thank you all for your transparency during this terrible journey. I pray that I and others who have followed you will rise to the example set by Wes and all of you. Truly, God has used even this to teach the rest of us how to love and trust and pray in the midst of such a trial. May you all be flooded with a palpable sense of God’s presence and peace.
