Back in ER

Wes has spent the last few days in bed. This morning as I was eating breakfast he called for me and when I approached his bed there were fluids running down his stomach from his tube line. Some of it looked red but most of it dark in color.

He was in sheer pain. The boys came to help get him situated while I called hospice. While on the phone Wes told the boys to call 911.

An ambulance arrived and took him to the hospital. They believe it’s stomach contents coming out through his port because his bowels are backed up. They are working on helping relieve his bowels and see if that takes care of the pain and discomfort.

Because Wes is on hospice, he will not be staying at the hospital. Once they get the situation under control, they will send him home.

In that, lies a different situation, as wes has not stood up or used his leg muscles in days. We will cross that bridge when we get to it.

  7. It is an ileus and usually can be relieved. Praying for relief. Been there with Don who had a feeding tube the entire 4 months. Praying for relief and comfort. Amazing that hospice expects family members to be nurses, doctors and caregivers. Is there an hospice center to which he can be transported until they get this under control?
    Praying!
