Remembering Seaside

In October of 2013 the Coddington Tribe had the incredible opportunity to help launch a church campus in the Regal Theater in downtown Oceanside, CA. It was a privilege and an honor to be part of a team that worked hard to bring the love of Jesus to the people there. We watched God change lives and do incredible redeeming work. While it was often difficult and heart-breaking labor, it was so rewarding.

One of the things I appreciated most was that our children got a front row seat in seeing lives transformed for the good. Dakota and Kadin were so young and yet they ran all the audio/visual elements for our children’s ministry. We regularly had people in our home that were going through various life issues and struggles.

Here’s a video that was put together to celebrate God’s work at Seaside in 2015. Makes me cry every time I watch it.

When the church is actually being the church Jesus designed it to be, it is an awesome, incredible power for good and transformation. I wish all my friends and families could experience the true church, it would change your life forever.

  2. God changed our lives forever through the people at Seaside. There we embarked on a total change of direction for our family. We are forever grateful to you, and Karen, and our friends at Seaside who truly showed us what it means to be the hands and feet of Jesus. We love you guys.

  3. Loved Seaside church with you Wes!!! You were awesome in your ministry and I met so many new friends. Walking to the Regal cinema was also wonderful. It was a sad day when Seaside closed!

  4. Love It!! Tears here too!!

  5. Oh how I remember those days at Seaside. Every Sunday for 2 1/2 years I looked forward to serving and seeing my brother and sisters in Christ. It was joy to serve with them. I miss everyone very much.
I also remember that Sunday in 2013 when the Coddington family was introduced by Hal to the congregation. It just happend that we were all walking out the side door to the parking lot at the same time. The kids were younger..(we all were). We talked and I could see the kids eyeing my car! Not too amazing. It was red Toyota Matrix, with flames on the sides and eyelashes!!! The kids loved it. I was a hit. From that day to this… I love all of the Coddington’s. Later I met Doug and Grace, as they spent their summers in the Senior Park where I live. Doug and I were in the Park’s Bible study. The Coddington tribe were at my 75th Bday Party, to do a video and celebrate with me. It is a wonderful memory I will always cherish. With the video I can see them anytime. I wish I could see them all in person now. Miss you, love you, God’s blessings and speed. Diane

  6. We never made it out to Seaside, but were so excited about the work that you guys were doing there, that God was doing through you. More than anything, I think what I’ve learned from you over and over again, is that the most important thing is for people to meet Jesus. Questions about doctrine, theology, denominational differences…thinking through those things can be helpful, but bottom line- do we know Jesus, and are we helping others to know him too?

  7. Seaside was a definite highlight in my life. In addition to ministering with family, it gave me/us life -long friends. A great season of our life.

  8. Thanks for sharing! I’m pretty sure I could have written any of those notes. The Coddington Tribe, through the Holy Spirit, has touched the lives of my wife, my kids and myself. I remember the day we met, you had just closed Seaside. In a sea of people, Georgette and I were lost at New Song. I remember hearing later that you had told your wife about meeting a couple around your age 🙂
    That was a divine introduction.

  9. This is so beautiful. I miss our seaside church. It’s the first and only church I really felt welcomed and wanted.

  10. Well, I was in tears too, for all the Lord has done through you and your family. I am so thankful for you. Now the prayer for poop was a highlight! No really, the changed lives that only heaven will reveal. This is precious. Thanks for sharing this. Praying for you every day. Love and hugs.

  11. Thank you, Coddington’s, for answering Gods call and trusting Him as he lead you to small town Oceanside. You made such a huge impact in the community and in our lives. Seaside has a special place in our hearts. I learned so much about servanthood, ministry, and fellowship because of your amazing example. We love you all so much and are praying for you always!

  12. This was so amazing and brought back memories and the love we all experienced.

I’ll never forget the guy that lined up at the hospitality table with his skateboard. He used it as a little table and was piling it up with treats. People were so upset and came to me to do something but the only thing I could come up with was welcome to seaside and sir this gives a new spin to meals on wheels and I started laughing. He smiled and stayed for the service I still laugh about it.

This was an amazing time with amazing people it certainly changed me.

Hey remember hauling coffee down the street on a cart lol precious times

I love you guys and will always be grateful to be part of your family. Our life is better because of you

    Love
    Kim
