Cement Pad Prayers

When we bought our house we had no clue I had cancer. The cancer was in my body and God knew it, but we didn’t have a clue yet. Part of the choice to buy this particular house was the option to put an addition on for my parents. There is room on the side for an in-law suite to be built. With my cancer diagnosis, we have felt all the more that we should make this happen. My parents are currently renting an apartment 1.5 miles from us and that has been a God-send. They are across the athletic field from Kasey’s school and that’s been convenient for us. Having my parents close has ministered to us in so many countless ways. We are grateful beyond words.

My parent’s sold their California house and are working on selling their New York house. That will take some time to get ready to sell. In the meantime, they have a 35’ RV and plan to live in that for a while. We have been trying to find a general contractor that could put a cement pad down on our property so that my parents can live in the RV right here. (We’d actually put a foundation down that an addition can be built on later and use the foundation as an RV pad for now.) There is a housing shortage and everything is expensive as well as backed up. We have not been able to find anyone to do the work as they are all booked way out. But yesterday we think we found someone!

Would you please pray with us? We want to have my parents here on property but we want to make wise decisions for now and for the future. Here are some things you can pray about:

  • Contractor: Aaron seems honest and knowledgeable but we are putting a lot in the hands of another person. Pray for a good working relationship or none at all if he is not the right person for the job.
  • Sub-Contractors: Pray that Arron gets reliable, honest laborers for the various parts of the project.
  • Timing: We may not get cement till July, but perhaps the Lord would speed that up. My parents move out of their apartment next week and will live in the RV at a KOA camp ground until the pad is completed.
  • Cost: Everything is expensive right now but we feel the Lord will provide in His way.
  • Patience: We have shared so many ways in which we have watched miraculous things happen in our journey when we wait on the Lord and His plans. Please pray that this would be no different. We want to wait patiently on the Lord and watch what He does.
  • Opportunities: If this all goes through, there will be people on the property coming and going. That means we will have opportunities to show God’s love to to others. Pray we are alert and don’t miss them.

  1. Sounds like not a lot of “concrete” plans, but knowing the solidness of your Father, I think everything will shape up really well and your foundation is secure. We will pray with you that God will make smooth the path and undergird you with strength through the process.

With my background in cement work, I will look forward to joining the effort in July.

We love you all – and are praying for you!!
