Family Blessing and Update

VISIT
My brothers and sister came to visit me this week and my parents are already living here in their apartment – it was the first time in 11 years we have all been together! It was such a sweet time. I have the best brothers and sister and parents of anyone on the planet. I am so blessed. Not everyone gets to be raised in a home surrounded by so much love and joy.

UPDATE
Life on Hospice has been a blessing so far. They immediately took care of my pain and I have had many days now that are pain free, praise the Lord! One of my greatest struggles is what to do with myself. I am living in this space that feels halfway between life and death and I want to be sure I don’t waste it. At the same time, I am so weak and fragile, there isn’t much I can do. The pain meds leave me in a bit of a fog and I get anxiety too. This is new to me as I have never been an anxious person. Please pray that the doctors find the right mix of meds for me to be pain-free but also be able to function.

Karen and I have been encouraged to continue blogging as people keep saying what a blessing it is to them. Honestly, we don’t even know what to do with that. But so many have said it that we do feel like it is part of what God has called us to do in these days. If you are one of those people, then we ask that you pray for us to know what to say/do through our blog. We’ve been encouraged to try some video blogging too which, believe it or not, really scares me a lot.

KAREN
Karen is my solid rock. She is so in tune with my needs. She is running the household with agility and wisdom – I can count on her for everything. Please be in prayer for her as there is so much to keep track of between medications, food, tennis, school, hospice visits and more.

  5. Wes,
I am praying for you and the rest of your family. Your wife seems to be a very strong lady. God bless her. I know your Mom is a strong lady, I worked at CVS in the Library media center when she was our principal. I grew to love and respect her so much. Tell her I said hi. And yes! Keep up the blogging! You all have been an inspiration. We hold your family so dear to us, being that if it wasn’t for you all maybe Justin and I wouldn’t have become baptized believers. God has worked through you in many many ways. Just anything you’d like to talk about like a conversation over the phone I suppose. I pray you gain strength and can have peace and be pain free during these days.

  7. We are keeping you and your family in prayer and never giving up faith that God is our healer.

  8. I love this picture of your family, so much love! Praying for you continually Wes, and for the whole

  10. Dear Wes & Karen,
Finding words to speak (especially from a distance) to you both is a bit difficult. Your blog is a blessing in that we see fellow believers living their lives with total trust in God. Your sharing opens my eyes to your needs. We can pray with better wisdom for you. And, as I am also daily praying for another family in the same circumstance, it helps me to be a better pray-er for them also.

We pray for all of you – Wes, Karen and your children. You are living as all Christians are called to live. Daily trusting God to lead and provide whether we see the path ahead or not.

May your days with extended family and immediate family be filled with joy in each other and peace for each day.

I will say I’m one of those people who is blessed by the things that you guys are recording on these blogs, and my recommendation would be that you be honest and open about all that you’re going through. You have been so far, and in the ups and downs of life, we see Christ in you. I will pray God gives you wisdom and boldness, clarity and discretion as you share with others in your blog.
God bless you all. You are in our daily prayers.

  17. Loved the picture of your family. How very special to have them there. I know that the weakness and fogginess you feel hinders what you want to do, but I am so thankful that the meds have help with the pain. Praying for you, Wes, several times a day.
    Love to the family.

  18. Praise God for your blog and all that you share. Wes, I believe we crossed paths on a bike trip many years ago. My sister, Pat, has been sharing your updates and prayer requests as they come. We lost our brother, Doug, last Sept after his courageous battle with glioblastoma. You remind me much of him …
Your courage. Your trust in Jesus. Your family and the walk you must all go through at this time as you prepare for entering Glory. Thank you for sharing it with us. I am praying for you and your wife and your kids. Finding that your journey gives such encouragement and hope. Thankful that the Lord is with us when our journeys are tough, and when our journeys are easy. God bless and keep you!

  19. As always, we are humbled by your grace, love, and the joy you find in the everyday. You have been such a blessing through your own suffering, Wes. David and I wish we could come see you and the entire family. Our love and prayers continue.

I thank God for you. You and your family are true extensions of God’s Grace, a testimony for us on the sidelines. We are all learning from you and Karen and your family. I am so glad our paths crossed several years ago. My life is better because of it. Be strong. Keep the faith. Please know we support you in prayer!

  26. Praying for all of you, You are such a blessing, God is using your testimony in many ways that I’m sure you are not aware of. Special prayers for Karen who is not so much in the lime light but I know the light wouldn’t be so bright without her. God strenght and comfort.

  27. I’ve followed along for months, Wes, and just haven’t been able to find the words. But I’ve prayed for you and Karen and the kids consistently. Thank you for showing us what it looks like to finish well.

  30. Thank you for keeping up the blog. When you haven’t written for awhile we begin to wonder.. Take care, and may God hold you close!! ❤️

  31. Some people have used a blog as a repository of fond moments or stories. Maybe it will be useful to recount and record such events; how you first met, what you thought, your first ice cream, first toy bought for each child ….

    God is good!

    P.S. sandy cove memories.

  32. Lifting up you and your family. May He be your comfort and peace! With love.

  33. Wes, thank you for keeping us all updated. I’m short for words. Please keep an old ironing board ready, you never know when I’d be coming over. It’s been way to long since we’ve been silly together. Lots of love from Belgium, Benoît

  34. Praying for a blanket of peace for you Wes! Breathe easy dear one. How blessed you so to be surrounded in so much love.. We are storming the heavens for you and yours.

  35. Wes & Karen:
We’re so glad to see prayers being answered! We have an awesome God! Thanks for
Being a blessing to us & so many. I often refer to you as an example in the counseling office in encouraging & challenging those who are struggling with their circumstances. So know that you’re making an impact in many lives here in PA. Keep on keeping on! ❤️🙏🏻 PW & Sandy xo

  36. Praying continually for you and your family.

  37. So glad that your family was all together. We love you all and are praying for all of you.

  38. I’m glad to know the pain gets controlled more often than it had been. I’m sad that you are experiencing anxiety. I will pray that the doctors find pain reliever that works without adding anxiety to you.
Thank you for squeezing us in. You blow me away because you are still serving. Rest Wess, God will let us know all that He feels we need to know. You’ve been an amazing servant and anyone who knows you has learned from you. 🤍
I am also praying for your family. It is amazing how strong Karen is.
    I love you all.

  39. Wes. When I think across my life of 66 years I can honestly say I’ve never seen/witnessed a brother like you who is so open about the process and experience of living on this earth while also preparing for the reality of eternity. I read Paul’s experience in Philippians but it doesn’t compare with watching you, a friend I know personally, go through this. Thank you for sharing your dreams, anxieties, perspective, focus and clarity about what we will all face. It’s powerful and it causes a regular CTRL ALT DELETE in my life to keep things in perspective and focus on the most important.
Of course I don’t want you to go through this and regularly pray that God would extend your time here. In health. And I will continue to do so.
I love you, bless you, and thank you for your impact on my life.
    Jeff

  40. Wes, Karen and Family,
I am praying for you daily. I am so grateful for your your witness and testimony. I thankful for a God who is faithful to us and that our identity is in Him to the very end.
Just as the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse so too the Coddington Tribe speaks loud and clear of our great savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.
I pray that God grant you the strength, courage, wisdom and power to sprint to the cloud of witnesses and His loving arms unless he choses to take this cup from you and restore you to health. All praise honor and glory to Him forever and ever.
    Fellow Brother In Christ
    Trevor

  41. What an awesome pic and witness of God’s true love and blessing of family! Yes we are praying!
We are thankful to God for the pain free days you have had and know in faith you will continue to have as our Lord will provide the strength to function to enjoy this life.
The inspiration for us has been how you and your family are living out the word of God and seeing Christ in you. This is all for His glory, to mature us in faith and see life from His perspective, and draw us closer together in Him as His children. God works in mysterious ways and above our comprehension to trust in Him no matter the outcome because it begins and ends with him.
    We love you guys!
As 2 Corinthians 12:9-11 says, “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” Additionally Galatians 2:20, “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

  42. Wes, I’m so thankful for you and your family, so many great and humorous memories from back in the day! Will continue to pray for you and all of your family. You are a true blessing and inspiration to many, a man of true character, undying wit, and a heart of gold!! I’m hopeful that someone is able to fashion a blow dart gun out of a straw, paper clip, and string for you to shoot at balloons with, while watching The Princess Bride on VHS! … I will never forget your kindness and caring sense of humor.. Love you man!!

  43. Beautiful post and such a blessing to have loving family around you and your parents right by to support the family. Great photo and keep the blog so we know how to pray!
God please give the perfect med combo for Wes so he can be pain free. Give he and his family laughter and love as they have touched so many with the same! Calm Wes’ anxiety and give Karen amazing strength and peace during this challenge. We pray for God’s will and guidance to all involved. We pray over his amazing children and that their needs would be met! We trust you God.
    Love to you all,
    Kari

  44. So nice to see this picture of you all together. You are blessed to have such a great family and they are blessed to have you as part of their family. Continuing in prayer…
