Another Adventure

So last night we ended up at the ER until early this morning. Wes’ blood pressure was 180/117 and that was after taking blood pressure medicine and having the doctor increase it by 15mg more. He was vomiting and had hot and cold flashes all day. When I took his temp it was 101, however, he had just thrown up. We called the specialist and we were advised to go to the ER so they could help get his blood pressure down and make sure there were no obstructions or other causes of his discomfort.

Within an hour of being in the hospital, Wes had seen the doctor, had 2 sets of scans done (to check his stomach, chest and kidneys), blood work drawn and shortly after they ran an EKG as well. They were moving very quickly.

All scans came back clear. Blood work showed elevated white cell count and a few other numbers that we don’t know anything about but were worth the doctor noting and he said they aren’t extreme but we should follow up with Wes’ kidney specialist on Monday.

Based on the blood results, they also wanted to do a CT scan of the lungs. Those results showed that there was some fluid in the lungs that could be slight aspiration pneumonia from vomiting.

Considering it is a weekend and both the ER doctor and on call Kidney specialist were able to get Wes at a point where his blood pressure was at a manageable rate, they were willing to send him home with an antibiotic and another BP medicine to help maintain control until he can get to talk to the specialist on Monday.

We arrived home this morning at 4:30 AM. After some more Tylenol and relaxing medicine Wes slept really well.

Today was the PUSH 21 conference for Resonate and we were thankful to be able to participate in watching. Wes had a small part and was feeling really sick before his online part, but he did a great job, he made it through, and was able to share and give God glory.

The rest of the evening Wes rested, still feels nauseous and achy and yes still throwing up, but today was better than yesterday.

  6. Lifting you to the Lord my brother. Praying that you will not lose heart but keep your eyes on him. Your situation and circumstance has led to numerous conversations with people who have never even met you. Had the chance to walk through the โ€œhow is he still trusting in Godโ€ question on Friday. I was able to share the good news of Jesus and share of the legacy of Coddington family faith. Keep trusting, keep believing in His faithfulness, keep running the race that is set before you.

  7. I keep praying that God will heal Wes like he did King Hezekiah, and grant him 15 more years of life, like he did for Hezekiah. He did it once before. Maybe he will do it again.
