The PET scan procedure went well today and Dr Kuhn called us this evening with results.
- As suspected, the cancer is not just in my esophagus but is localized in the lymph nodes there as well.
- There is a mass in my liver. Dr Kuhn is “very concerned that this is cancer.”
- Something small showed up on my hip bone. She isn’t concerned about this right now, unless the liver has cancer. At that point she will talk to bone experts to decide what to do.
What’s next? A liver biopsy. Before she called us, she already talked to Dr Majithia (chemo) and they are woking to schedule it as soon as possible. She is following up with him in person Monday am and we will call his office as well.
While she admitted she is not an expert on liver biopsies, she said from the look of it, the mass is just on the surface of the liver and at a place that should be easy to get to.
