This past weekend the boys were a part of the Science Olympiad. An all day event devoted to Science, competing against other schools. The boys have been working hard over the past few months after school studying different parts of science and creating vehicles for competing.
It was just a fun day of watching students drop eggs from the second story in their fancy and some not so fancy parachutes. Watching stick helicopters flying in the gym, robots pushing, picking up, and moving objects around a game board. Boom-a-levers that are placed on a board and a bucket is placed on the end and is slowly filled with sand by a student to see how much weight it can handle before it breaks. Vehicles were created to go a certain speed and stop at a specific spot. Instruments of all kinds made of wood, string, water bottles, pipes, and other materials, all had to be able to play the same song. Listening to the students as they debrief about the test that they just took or event that they just participated in. It was a great experience to be able observe and participate.
The boys had fun but it is a long day. Here are our two scientists!
Dakota dressed for “You can’t judge a powder”
