On The Road – Faith

We will leave the hotel this morning. This was our last stop before “home”. In about 4.5 hours of drive time, we will arrive in a place that is foreign to us. We will have a trailer full of stuff and no clue where to unpack it. You may or may not understand or agree with it, but we made this journey because we felt God was calling us to do so. We are still trusting that He has the perfect place waiting for us.

We know the Bible says that He is faithful and promises to provide our needs. Man is it hard to live that sometimes.

Every ounce of my humanity is screaming in my ear that I have not heard correctly or that I am a fool. And yet, look what He has done already. How can I even consider doubting?! There is the fool. The fool is the me who watches God bring my family blessing upon blessing and praises Him for it and the very next moment wonders if He is going to provide. Crying as I post. Hoping for strength through prayer.

“Lord I believe. Help my unbelief.”

  1. AMEN!!! He is faithful, so let’s put one foot in front of the other and expect Him to open the way. We are human. We doubt. And He comes through because He is who He is. Thank you, Lord.
    Love you guys!!

  2. He is faithful and just and will forgive our sins, even the sin of our disbelief. Love to you all as you make this encredible journey of faith.

  3. Another thought. This a.m. I was reading in Jeremiah about the Rechabites. They were told not to build houses, plant, etc. and when all of Israel and Judah were being exiled or going to Egypt on their own, they were praised for their obedience. So, guys, you are on the right road, no matter what you find or don’t find on the way. Remember, it’s only the journey because our destination is sure and secure. All the rest is a great adventure for Him. Enjoy the ride!! Love ya all.

  4. Amen!! Keep Going!!! He’s leading and taking your rear guard. Keep Going!!

  5. where God guides, He provides. Keep going!

  6. Wes and Karen and kids, in my experience even if I plunged ahead and maybe got in front of God’s timing and plan for me, He let me and eventually He blessed me. Not always, I suppose, as much as He would have blessed me, had I waited. But, since I was born, I sorta hit the delivery room floor runnin.’ Works for me! The Bible is full of characters, just like you and me. Some are patient and kind and are Huxley, Texas (or Oneonta, NY) Type B Personality: Silky Smooth. Others are Type A folks from the “Jacob Goldsmith (Personality) Theory.” Many of those people can’t sit still very long, either physically or soulfully, and they’re usually always on the Go! Go!! Go!!! and are frequently referred to as “Jumpin’ Jack Flashes.” So what you wrote Wes is very “Right On”…”but we made this journey because we felt God was calling us to do so. We are still trusting that He has the perfect place waiting for us.” “Trust and Obey” is one of the traditional hymns I sang as a Texas Baptist kid growing up in the 1950’s-1960s in Corpus. What better place to be born! Corpus Christi, which means in espanol, “Body of Christ.” I left the beautiful city in 1969 for college in Nacogdoches, Texas. Ya’ll, or “yous – Karen and Wes, have a very nice and thoughtful sister-in-law from my time in E. Texas until about October 1998, when I temporarily moved back to Corpus. Some people “Go Their Own Way” (Fleetwood Mac) and it isn’t following The Way, or The Life or The Truth either. As we know, many will say they are Christians, but not all will be with us with God in His heaven. That means, we who are Ephesians 2:8-9 people best get busy and be positive influences for those others who need some guidance to consider the Case for Christ. Amen?

  7. No need for me to preach…keep on keeping on.
    Blessings.

  8. Don’t feel like a fool! We totally expect that in a few days or weeks you will be able to see exactly why you didn’t have that house locked in before you got here.

I told Hope this morning that her life is about to dramatically change as of today. She said, “OK.” 🙂

  9. Crying with you….knowing that you would not take your family to the other side of the country if it weren’t for God calling you there. Not sure why he wants you there instead of here but that’s not for me or anyone else to understand at this time. He will guide you each day and I know that your life in California will be amazing! I thing though you better get settled quickly because I’m wanting to visit soon!! 🙂

I liked what DT said above…keep on keeping on!! Tell the kids I said hi…and look forward to skyping with them real soon!

    Linda
