Waiting on God

We have about 23.25 hours and people are arriving at our house to help us pack the trailer. If you have kept up, you know that we still don’t have a trailer. It might seem crazy to some, but we really believe God will provide the right trailer for this move. We have felt for a long time that He has called us to it and the two things that we keep relying on are this:

1. God has promised to provide our needs.
2. God cannot lie.

I know I have said the above before on this blog and to many people in person, and maybe I write for my own faith-building more than anything else, but I don’t know what else to do but fall back on the God who made and owns it all.

I had breakfast today with some real special people in my life, they are my Friday AM D-Group. I call it “D-Group” but I don’t think any of them call it that. The “D” is for Discipleship. It is a group of men who voluntarily meet every Friday at 6:15am for mutual accountability and encouragement. If you don’t have a group like this, get one!! Anyway, Andrew, one of the guys there, spoke to me about the trailer after the whole group had encouraged me, and one thing he said that really stuck was this:

“Whenever I read about people on mission with God and they have a choice to make, the right answer is always ‘Wait on God.’ Wes, God does not need to compete for His glory with your ingenuity. Let Him do His thing.” That was the gist of it and it really spoke to me deeply (thanks Andrew!).

It reminded me of another U2 song quote: “Stop trying to help God across the road like a little old lady.”

  1. God is never late and He is never early…His timing is always perfect and He wants us to lean on Him and trust Him in every detail of our lives. We are praying for His provision in every way.

Wish we lived closer, we have a trailer, although not quite as big (7×10). Too bad we can’t airlift it to you!!! Ha!

  2. PS…wish you were driving through this way so we could see you!

    1. We have tried to figure out a way to come your direction. We kind of assumed that would be the plan from the start, but the more we look at the trip, we have discovered what you probably already know.

We will be pulling an 8.5 x 20ft trailer and going through the Rocky’s will be difficult and cost much more on gas. As well, it puts undue work on the truck and will be tough on the brakes. We are buying the trailer to sell it in CA. Keeping it in the best shape possible has to be a priority.

We would love to see your place, but we just can’t see it being a good choice. And for that, we feel really rotten and very disappointed. We are very thankful that our kids will see their cousins and check out the farm!

      1. The Southern route does make more sense…

Don’t know that it will make a difference, but at least for the mountain drive up this way, we do have friends that would be happy to keep the trailer in their driveway or on the street in front of their house.

I70 through the mountains isn’t too terrible, a few big “hills” to climb in the beginning, but most of it is on the canyon floor.

Either way, we are praying for that trailer to be hitched to the back of the truck in the next day or two.

        Love to you all.
Can’t wait to see the children this weekend.

  3. I don’t have a trailer and I’m not close to you anyway, so “all” I can do is talk to our Lord about your need. I believe that when we pray for God’s Will to be done, we can’t go wrong, even if His Will is that you, I also, don’t get what we want, or even “need.” I like the band U2. I also listen to The Glimmer Twins, aka Nanker Phelge, sometimes. One of the Twins’ songs has this line: “You Can’t Always Get What You Want, But If You Try Sometime You Just Might Find You Get What You Need.” Sometimes I add (or delete) words in secular songs to reveal a more spiritual/Christian meaning. So in this case, “…You Get What You Need” becomes “God Gives You What You Need In His Timing.” I believe that one “trick” to righteous Christian living is to praise God “no matter what happens.” I believe that you believe this also. Right, Wes? You and your family (and the families of your kinfolk in NY and in CA) have had times when you had to let Christ live His Christian life IN YOU because you couldn’t live it. I don’t believe that any human being can live the Christian life apart from allowing God to be the Boss on a daily basis. Amen? Please call me when you get close to Arlington, okay?

  4. Hi Wes and Karen, praying for your need, and can’t wait to hear this God story. Also praying for everyone God will be putting in your path as you travel westward, that He will be softening hearts. Be courageous, God is FAITHFUL!!! Love, Bonnie H.
