Today we celebrated six months with my new kidney. Six months is a major marker for transplants. I feel great, as far as kidney function goes. I still feel the effects of being out of shape and fairly inactive for too long, but I am not complaining! In fact, my last labs had my Hemoglobin at 15.3. The kidney is doing so well.
So, to surprise me for my six month mark, Karen got me a Can-Am Spyder!! As many of you know, I have wanted a Spyder since I first learned they would be in production. The cool thing is, Karen NEVER spends money. She is so good at the discipline of saving and prioritizing not spending. Apparently, even though things have been pretty tight for us lately, she has been squirreling away funds for this surprise. She even got my favorite color.
I have really appreciated Karen as she has supported me through this process. Karen has been the perfect home nurse and helpmate through this part of our journey. There are still ups and downs along the way. While the dips don’t seem so low, she is always encouraging and patient when I struggle.
The kids have been wonderful as well. They are great at celebrating small things that are significant to me health-wise. They notice the increase in energy I have, and are eager to help me use it.
Thank you all for your support as well. I have a surprise for all of you who have supported us. So scroll down please…
Surprise!!
This is fabulous. (I was scared for a minute). I am so glad to hear that your progress is going well.
Laughing my face off…. What a great posting!! Praise God for all Blessings!! You keep us going, Wes, when we were to be keeping you on track. Well Done!
That was very funny, almost cried laughing

I am still laughing – not going to tell your father about the bottom two pictures until he looks at it himself – I only read him what you wrote as he was falling asleep!!!
Wes, does it get good gas mileage????
Still laughing. Barry was gunning for a Harley until he saw the last two pictures!
Happy Thanksgiving to the entire Coddington Tribe.
God Bless!
Jennifer
WOW…you had me going….I thought the motorcycle you had already was a spyder but I guess not!! Thanks for the laugh!!
See you guys on Wednesday night!
You had me going too. I guess your favorite bike/trike color is the same as mine – unfortunately, mine was toooooo big for me and had to give it up. Also, I’m not quite ready for a trike.
Sooooo glad you are getting your strength back, all your numbers better – I knew so long ago that God had a miracle for you even though I didn’t know what or how.
Love ya big guy. Can;t wait to see you all for Christmas.
Too funny – way to keep us going.
Praising god for his hand on your life Wes. You have been a continual blessing to me – your old aunt – instead of vice versa. Have shared several of your past posts with others – I even copied a few of them and keep them in my bible to remind me to trust God no matter what things appear to be.
Love you all so much,
Aunt Debbie
Man – I was mostly thinking, “way to go Karen”, but after I have repeatedly told Jason how thankful I am that he isn’t into bikes, I am thankful for Karen’s wisdom is a more modest purchase…
So thankful for you Wes. Your humor and approach to life is a pretty special gift.
We love you!
– lisa (& Jason)
Congrats on the 6th month milestone! Rejoicing with you brother!
Oh my goodness, what a dirty trick … but it worked. Now you can sleep with your Spyder and dream of the day you get one. Good job Karen!! You guys are the best at keeping up the suspense and keeping the fun in marriage and family. I love it!
Praise be to God for the many blessing He’s given all of us. It is also 6 months for my new knee and I can’t kick, but I can walk and keep up with the grand kids and Bob. Bob is harder than the 13 grand kids but we keep plugging along.
Love you guys, looking forward to dinner on the 4th!!
Bob & Pat
You are funny. 🙂
Glad the kidney is working so well. Looking forward to seeing all of you in a month.
Is there any chance that you will be up for a weekend snowmobile trip this winter? I’ll let you ride my yellow and black WINTER Spyder! So very glad the transplant was so successful Wes! Energy spent with kids is a wise investment!!! And there is no doubt about it…Karen is the BOMB!
Hi! Wes-We ,certainly, do praise the Lord and thank Him for all of His blessings. He,surely, has a mission for you and is blessing you & your family. You have been such an example to all of us. Hey Wes, you look great holding your Spyder! Praise God for his faithfulness and answer(s) to prayer!
so, is there room for karen on the back or are you gonna be a hog and take up the entire seat when you take this sweet baby for a ride?
since you’ve got more energy, do you think you’ll perform better at the bi-annual Christmas snowball fight? you had a pretty weak showing a couple years ago.
Out of shape …git them sneakers on boy!
PTL, and
Cool Spyder!
(Now all you have to do is shrink down to “Tron” size a take it for a spin…. :o)
Seriously, ‘though, it’s wonderful to see God’s healing in action, knowing that he keeps working–no matter what…. Wendy and I continue praying for youz guys!
So Happy for you Wes and your family too.
