Wes received this card from his friend Dan and it made him laugh. Actually it made him laugh too much, he was in a lot of pain trying to stop laughing.
Thanks Dan, excellent. He needed it!
Wes had a visit from his friends John and Brennen too. They helped cheer him up as he was having a rough afternoon. About five minutes after they left, Wes threw up again, even though he has had nothing but liquids to eat. As he lay there over the bucket in pain, he had just enough energy to point out that his plans were working out perfectly…
Wes knows he will throw up and be in pain and whether its God’s design or just life (likely both), he is going to experience certain uncomfortableness. Part of his coping mechanism is to “outwit” the pain and discomfort, as much as possible. For the throwing up, he calculates what will taste best going both down and up. For years, when knowing that he will throw up solids, he eats Life cereal because it is good tasting both ways and is smooth as well. He was smiling tonight because he knew the regiment of meds would eventually make him throw up, so he ate cherry water ice. I have to admit, it even smelled nice compared to other throw up.
He might be down, but he is not out!
Karen.
PS – Wes wants everyone to know that it was not the visit of John and Brennen that made him sick…
Thanks for letting us know that Wes thinks it wasn’t John and Brennen. Laughing out loud. Praying for you two and sharing your story with anyone who will listen. Love Theresa
Pretty Funny! Only Wes would contemplate the taste of throwing up. Surely that will be a useful illustration somewhere at a future training event. Elizabeth Elliott once said in a radio broadcast I heard, “Trials and tribulations, for my good for God’s glory!”. You are certainly glorifying God through this trial. Thanks for laughing and sharing this with us all and being such a great example.
Praying that you’ll continue to laugh even when it hurts.
You guys crack me up!!!! I LOVE and appreciate your honesty! I’m gonna have to tell Hosanna about the throw-up trick. She tends to throw up once a month or so.
Love and prayers,
Marla and the family
Wes and Karen
Love your unique perspective — God has gifted you with amazing perspective in the heat of battle
Praying for that creatinine

Karen,
You are truly an angel God sent to Wes, I’m gagging just reading it.
I’m glad cherry ice works well for you both:) We keep praying and know that God is holding you both in his embrace through this journey.
Miss you at the office Wes it’s way too quiet.
Love and Hugs,
Jennifer
Wes,
That card sort of gives a whole new meaning to “smooth as a baby’s bottom”
I am keeping you guys in my thoughts and prayers.
Take my advice Wes…do not drink Five Alive before throwing up.
Take care, thoughts & prayers.
Thanks for that important information, of course it would of been good to know about the chex cereal for the past 2 years as I have also struggled with the ever not-knowing when and where I will throw up going through gastric-bypass. My eyes are often bigger than my belly and then oh no…run! I think you need to consider writing a book to share all this knowledge with others. It’s is great to learn from others experiences and God has sure given you lots of experiences! I appreciate your Love for the Lord, your humor and your ambition to be all He has designed you to be!
That card holds some serious theological truth. Amen to that!
About the Life cereal…I threw that up while pregnant with Hope. I didn’t think it tasted so good the second time around. Maybe better than raisin bran though.
Laughing – more at the Life Cereal and Cherry Ice than the card. Perhaps you could turn that into a Get Well/Suggestion greeting card!! Thanks for the laugh guys! Especially for your perspective of the smell Karen. I got a good mental picture of you curiously leaning over the barf basin hoping to gain a good whiff. Love you guys! – Lisa
