I told you yesterday of Wes’ Creatinine level. This is the level that will help the doctors know how well the kidney is filtering the toxins out of his blood. We already know that it is producing urine and that there is blood flow to and from the kidney. We are just waiting for it to begin filtering. His Creatinine level before the surgery was at 5.5 after the surgery it was 6.2. This is very common because of the trauma to Wes’ body and kidney. On Friday it was 7.0 continuing to rise to 7.2 on Saturday morning. This morning it is at 7.3. The rise has slowed down and now it needs to start dropping. Currently, they are not planning on putting Wes on dialysis. They want the kidney to begin filtering on its own.
This Creatinine number is what we are praying about. It needs to go down to indicate that the kidney is working. Last year the day after surgery the kidney Stephan gave Wes had his Creatinine down to 1.7. So that gives you a kind of indication a’s to the difference in transplant from live donor to cadaver.
It is possible, though not very likely, that this kidney will never kick in and filter. Right now, this is our most important indication for this part of the journey. All the doctors and their teams are watching carefully for Wes’ creatinine to begin going down.

PS -Wes still has his 2 original kidneys but they function around 5%. Their function is not a factor and is not enough to sustain him. This is why he was on dialysis this last year.

HA HA Monty Python, the stupidest movie to watch alone, however, one of the best movies to watch with a group of friends. Glad to hear your doing well and your spirits are up Wes. Im thinking one day this week you have to let me and John come bug you for a little while. Ill bring you some Doritos and Caso Cheese Dip for dinner, and you bring Monty Python….its a date…Maybe Holly Mockingbinder and Melissa Smitlab will show up too….we’ll see if were that lucky.
I will continue to pray! Praying that the Creatinine levels come down! That doesn’t seem too much to ask. Jumping on the computer every chance I get and if I can give you any words of encouragement to help you and Karen I will do my best!! All I can say to you is that today is the 22nd and we are all still here…. so God is not finished with any of us yet.

I am praying. It is good that Wes is doing a bit better with the exception of the Creatinine level. I will pray that this will start to go down and soon.
