What’s going on?

The kids are in school.  Kasey has started preschool.  It took her a few weeks not to cry when I left her at school.   Now she is excited to go but still has some hesitation when it’s time for me to leave.  The boys are doing well.  We are so blessed and thankful that even with all that is going on in our school district (there is a contract dispute going on) that our kids have  an incredible and wonderful principal and teachers and staff that are sincerely interested in the lives and growth of our children.

Our kids also played soccer for the first time this fall.  Kasey played a couple of games but the whole time she informed us that her sport is baseball and that she was NOT interested in soccer.  Dakota is really enjoying the sport, playing the front line and Kadin was given the position of goalie, which he loves.  They both are learning as they play and doing great.  Only a few more weeks and then their season is over.

Wes has been busy traveling.  This past month he has been to Virginia and Georgia and NYC.   He currently is on a overnight with the leadership of our church to reconnect and evaluate our direction in the mission God has called us.   Later this month Wes will be gone to Florida for a few days.  Overall, his health still remains the same.  He continues with in-center dialysis.  Some days are better than others.  He has been medically cleared for his next transplant and as soon as he gets a kidney, they will begin the transplant process. He is back on the transplant list.

We are beginning another chapter of our lives.   After 4 years living with my mom and her 3 kids, it is becoming more clear, for the sake of our families, that we separate.  We are in the process of finding out what that means.  We started looking at houses around our current neighborhood to buy so that we are still close enough to support Mom.  Now we are researching renting.  Both Wes and I want the freedom to be released from the area and not be in bondage to a mortgage if God is calling us out beyond the Langhorne area and to another state or country.   So, in the meantime, we look and we wait.

We’d love to know you are praying for us for wisdom in all the waiting.

  1. Thanks for the update, Karen – we pray for your seeking God’s wisdom with regards to your next chapter! It has been a little over 14 years since God opened opportunities for us in upstate NY – we didn’t realize at the time He had plans to take us far beyond Oneonta! We serve an awesome God – and He has plans for all of us! Godspeed!

  2. Thanks for the update!!

You know I will be praying for you and your family! I would love for you all to stay in the area….BUT….if God chooses another plan for you than the tears will fall and I will miss you but wherever you go will just be another vacation spot for me so be sure you have a guest room…LOL!! Let’s pray it’s driving distance away!! Tennessee is far enough already….a day’s drive and I can be there!!

    Love you guys!!

  3. Great to hear from you all. Sounds like a busy household. Just a little note. Both my niece and nephew found really nice homes that were in foreclosure. Got great deals. May be something you would want to look into. It’s sad for the people loosing their homes but they lost them anyhow. If your interested in buying, you can get some great prices. If your thinking of leaving the area, you would have a low mortgage and possibly be able to rent your home out to pay the mortgage. Just an idea that I would send to you.
We will be praying for you all as you make some very hard decisions.

  4. So good to hear from you. Just this past week I went to Texas and spent time with my son and his wife, along with my other children and their spouses who flew in to gather together. One of the revelations God gave me (and there were so many more, Praise God!) was to see the world beyond my limited boundaries back here. I’ve traveled somewhat, but this time He opened my eyes further. I don’t know His plan, but I’m eager and excited to experience it. My daughter and her husband have rented a wonderful house for the 14 years of their marriage. They, too, are eager to jump into life and, while through the years they have been told and thought they should have purchased someplace, the ability now to pack up and move out to the new horizons is true freedom. I’m praying for you folks to hear His directions and move when He says GO. And, keeping Wes in prayer for that new and vital kidney that God is preparing. Hallelujah!!!

  5. Thanks for letting us know how Wes is doing and of course how your young athletes are doing. Praying for your future plans/God’s.

    Love you all

  8. Glad to have that update, Karen. I’ll be praying for your kids, for Wes’ health, and for God’s direction for your family. Glad to hear that Kasey is getting acclimated–soon you’ll be telling us that she has been teachers songs to her classmates 🙂 What team do the boys play for? I’d love to catch one of their games.
