Wes has been doing well considering all the new adjustments. He is managing the tiredness, trying to stick to his “diet” (removing certain foods that are good for the healthy but not for him) and discouraged with the weight gain that is inevitable from dialysis.
After speaking in the morning Sunday, in Northern Jersey, he left in the afternoon to drive to Virginia to work for two days. He will be returning either late Tuesday or early Wednesday for dialysis scheduled for Wednesday morning at 5:30 am.
They are beginning the process, of what is called, Button Holing. For the next 2 to 3 weeks they will put the needles in his arm in the same spots each time he goes for dialysis. Eventually the skin will callous over and form what they call a button hole. The purpose for this is that they would like Wes to be able to do dialysis at home or wherever he may travel.
We met different nurses and technicians who have been excited and have encouraged us to go this route. We are excited about the possibilities and especially the freedom to travel. In a few weeks, Wes and I will be going through the training process and learn what it all entails.
In the meantime, we are thankful that Wes has been able to work, travel and be with family. God has given Wes many gifts and talents. He loves his work but more than that he loves his family. We are grateful for the time we get to spend together and this new potential of dialysis from home allows for even more. Thanks for going on this journey with us. We are truly blessed!
Hey Wes and Karen! Glad to hear that Wes has been able to travel and speak. Next time your scheduled for North Jersey, let us know. We would love to have you come for lunch or dinner or whatever. Our friend from our men’s ministry should be in contact with you about speaking to our men’s ministry. I think he has already contacted you. Hope it works out.
We continue to pray for you all.
Here’s a quote from an author whose little book I’m reading now: “Jesus gave His life for us so that He can now live His life in and through us. Much of our (Christian) worship and praise of God is based on our circumstances, experiences, feelings and emotions, and NOT on the Person of God.” Keep up the great work and it’s good to read about how God is improving Wes’ health. Jeremiah 29:11. Maybe someday I’ll path will cross again.
