Much Better Day

Thank you all for your many prayers yesterday.  Today was very different.  I don’t know if today was a good day because I progressed or simply because it wasn’t yesterday.  Regardless, I am thankful.

I was talking to someone today who shared what a blessing our website has been to them.  This actually happens quite frequently.  Karen and I created the website a month before the surgery and figured it was a way to keep lots of people informed without making repeated phone calls.  We never expected to have the kind of traffic on the site that we have seen and we certainly never expected so many to feel blessed.  Something people need to understand though is that we have been just as blessed.  Countless nights I have woken up in the middle of the night and have checked my phone to read the latest comments and drifted back to sleep knowing that so many have been praying and are concerned.  At some of my worst points of pain in the hospital, my mom or Karen would just begin reading comment after comment to me and that made a huge difference.  A few times I fell asleep in pain listening to the encouraging comments of friends, family and strangers.

Unknown and unplanned by us, this site has become a forum of mutual encouragement and blessing.  Thank you all for your participation.

PS – I got a prescription for new pain medicine that is not as strong as the narcotics but work better than OTC medicine.  I will try this for a few days and see if I can avoid the narcotics.

  1. Thanks for the upbeat, update. Praying for you and Karen and kids.

Any word on the next steps in your journey in terms of the kidney?

    Love, Marti

  2. My surgical team is very positive about a second transplant. In fact, they say the majority of second transplants go far better because they learn so much from the first. I cannot have another transplant for a minimum of three months; my body needs to heal. So right now, nobody is talking about when, who and such because we are just taking time to heal. We will follow the lead of the surgical team. When they start talking transplant, we will too and then follow His lead.

    Thanks for asking coach.

  3. You’ll be happy to know that I used your blog on my blog. How cool is that?!? I’m glad that today was better. You’re in our prayers… you and the whole family.

  4. Wes,
You will never know how profound your post from yesterday was for Steve. He was told over a month ago he would be moving to a new position at work. A move that he has been looking forward to. However, that move hasn’t happened as the company said and we aren’t sure if it is going to happen. Evidently the post from last night struck a chord and Steve told me that he copied, “He has me right where He wants me and right where I need to be” and hung it up on the computer at his work station. Thanks for the reminder and thanks for continuing to minister to us. God is so cool!! When we feel our worst, He does His best in us!!

So glad that today was a better day! We continue to pray for you, Karen and the kids.
    Love,
    Steve, Robyn, Stephen and LeighAnn

  5. Dear all:

We are praying for you and your families around the globe.
Praise the Lord for uplifting you – Wes and Steve, and your families as His chosen instrument … your testimonies are the “Lord’s message rang out from you ….. (that) your faith in God has become known everywhere. Therefore we do not need to say anything about it “(1 Th 1:8) except to praise the Lord for your faith in the Lord.

“We always thank God for all of you, mentioning you in our prayers. We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Th 1:2-3)

May the Lord give you the strength and great health to serve Him for many years have yet to come.

Thank you, Wes, Steve, and everyone!

    Always,

    Margaret and Lem,
    Seoul, Korea

  6. Hey Man, long time no see. I’m just letting you know that Jamie and I have been praying for you. Also, we have our small group at church praying. Just thought it might be encouraging to know people you don’t know are praying for you. Hope the healing is going well -Jake

  8. “For we also are weak in Him, but we shall live with Him by the power of God directed toward you.” 2 Cor.13:4b

I am weak but Thou art strong. Jesus, keep me from all wrong; I’ll be satisfied as long…as I walk, let me walk close to Thee. Just a closer walk with Thee. Grant it, Jesus, is my plea. Daily walking close to Thee. Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

Through this world of toil and snares. If I falter, Lord, who cares? Who with me my burden shares? None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee. Just a closer walk with Thee. Grant it Jesus, is my plea. Daily walking close to Thee. Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

When my feeble life is o’er. Time for me will be no more; Guide me gently, safely o’er. To Thy kingdom shore, to Thy shore. Just a closer walk with Thee. Grant it Jesus, is my plea. Daily walking close to Thee. Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

“Peace I bequeath to you, My own peace I give you, a peace the world cannot give, this is My gift to you.” John 14:27a

  9. Hey Wes,
Have been praying for you often. Several times during the night I have woken up and God has put you on my heart and I have prayed. Our Bible study group prayed for you last night again. My guess is that you’re covered round the clock with people praying for you all around the world – isn’t that awesome.
Grandma Brain always used to say:”I don’t know what the future holds, but I know who holds the future”. So encouraging to know that He is sovereign and His plans are out of His love for us. Stay encouraged, Wes, God isn’t finished with you yet:), and you’ve been such a blessing to so many. Thanks!

  10. Hi Wes and Karen –
Think of you often and continue to pray for you. Wes – I miss talking to you! You know – just getting on the phone and yakking about a PRO-D or the certification program. Feel a bit like my right arm is missing! Nonetheless, I perservere.
You are both so amazing through this trial – I am inspired and I am learning from your steadfast faith. Thanks for the website as it helps me to feel a part of it all.
    Hugs,
    Pamela

  11. One day at a time. We’re praying for your healing and strenghth for today.

Eric for the family and all the Stockaders who missed you last weekend at Haycock.

  12. Wes and Karen,

You have, indeed, been an encouragement and an inspiration. I can’t help but think of the difficulties so many of the Bible heroes had to go through, which would’ve been devastating to most of us: whether it was David’s multiple enemies and betrayals, Joseph’s horrifying youth, the apostles’ persecutions…and Wes Coddington’s health. All kidding aside, it can’t be easy going through what you are right now. But do keep strong in Him. And thanks for sharing with all of us.

    God Bless,
    Nelson

  13. Nelson-

It’s amazing. I am supposed to teach at CT Morris soon and if I can make it, the topic and scripture on my heart is exactly what you have just mentioned. Hebrews 12:1. Being surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses. Pray that the Lord will clear a path for me to CT Morris if it be His will.

    wes.
