18 Hours… Diagnosis… Unexplainable

Our Tuesday morning started out with a call to the doctors at 8am.  Wes woke up nauseous and vomiting which is strange because there was nothing in his stomach.  We left for the ER around 10:30 by 11:15 we were signed in and waiting.  It took us 5 hours to get in to see any nurses or doctors.  Once we were in Wes had blood drawn, a line put in, and within the hour sent for an X-ray.  As the hours passed the labs came back fine, the x-ray showed no blockage caused by surgery. Next step?  Enema.  Between 7 and 9pm they continued to give him fluids to make his bowels move.  After 2 hours of that nothing came out but fluids.  A little surprised they decided to do a CAT Scan.  Before the scan, Wes had to drink some water with medicine in it for the scan.  He drank half in the first hour, part of the second half in the second hour, then waited an hour for the scan.  It was 2am Wednesday by the time they took him for the scan.  Once he returned to his room, he and I just slept until they awoke us at 5:15am to let us know that they can’t find anything irregular.  No known cause for the vomiting or partial diarrhea or gas pains.  They sent him home with a prescription for a laxative and no new news.  As soon as we got home Wes was back in the bathroom vomiting.

Best guess by the doctor is irritation from medications.  We are moving dialysis to this afternoon and once again taking it one step at a time. Thank you for your continued prayers and for Wes’ spirits to be lifted in a time of discomfort and no answers.

We are off to bed praying for a better day!

  6. I let as many people I could think of know that you tow need prayer and so many have responded. People from my home church, Cooperstown Comm. Bible Chapel, Oneonta’s Main St. Baptist, So. Edmeston Comm. Church, and Union Center Christian Church, Fly Creek Quakers, Solid Rock Comm. Church in Ohio and many individuals are praying for you. Even a small group of pre-schoolers left this message for you:
    “Mr. Coddington,
Thank you for the update on Wes. We got the email during recess and decided to make a circle and pray for Wes and you & your wife and the doctors. The children have amazing hearts and love to pray for people. Thank you for giving us another opportunity to talk to God! All my students are thinking of you all and we will continue to pray.
    With love,
    Steps of Faith
(Sarah Robinson, Katy Haseley, and students)”
Just want you all to know that people care and are praying.

  7. I’m home and will stop over after work tomorrow. I will continue to pray as we await some good news from the doctors about what could be causing all these complications!

    Love you!
