Steve and I spent last night together at a hotel in Philly and then most of the day today in final doctor’s appointments. As is usually the scenario when we are together, we laughed a lot and enjoyed the time. We were cracking jokes and just genuinely enjoying life. We got chest x-rays, blood-work, EKG’s and free Apple juice! They called me while I was in the x-ray building and asked me to come back to where they drew blood because they forgot one. So when we were done with the x-rays, we had to walk back to give more. I was glad it was me not Steve who had to get the needle again.
Neither one of us brought a jacket and we were both wearing short sleeves, which was great in the morning. By the time we were down, the temperature had dropped and it was raining so we walked 6 blocks to the car in the rain. It was funny. The whole time we just made jokes and talked.
The night in the hotel was great too. We had a chance to talk about life and the surgery and more serious things. I really appreciate my brother. Not just because he is making this sacrifice, but for a host of reasons. He is wonderful human being.
The funniest thing all day was when we went for the x-rays and they sent us to two different changing rooms and gave us hospital gowns. They very clearly said, “Only take off your shirt.” So I went and it did not take but a moment to take off my shirt and put on the gown. I came out and was waiting forever for Steve. He, mean while, had taken off all his clothes and put the gown on. He stood in the room reading the sign that said “It is NOT Necessary to Take off Your Shoes.” He said that he was thinking to himself, “That’s a stupid sign because I have to remove my shoes to get my pants off.” When he finally got the gown on and his clothes off, he came out the door and saw me in jeans and ran back in and put the rest of his clothes back on.
Steve treated me to lunch. He felt that since I was generous enough to use my insurance company to treat him to so many wonderful tests, he could use his credit card to pay for my meal…
Oh, I would be remiss if I did not mention that while we sat in the waiting room, we played Risk against 2 other opponents on my iPhone. It does not really matter who won the game, it was just for fun. (I won.)

PS – Steve wanted to see Clash of the Titans on Monday night so we went together. We went into the bathroom and both started cracking up. Here is why.
The photo might be more fitting for “Splash of The Titans.”
Nice. In this context, “Splash of the Titans” does not bother me nearly as much as the “in 3-D” part…
